Great Fire, Guelph, postcards, 06 July 1921. 8 b&w postcards showing scenes following the fire which started at Stewart's Lumber Mill, upper Wyndham Street, 6 July 1921. At the bottom of each image is the typewritten text "GREAT FIRE GUELPH JULY 6th. 1921." - ph 36218: Crowd of men, women and children, standing behind rope]?] barrier. Two fireman and one policeman in front. Signs for "Bank of Canada" and "Barbers" and "Café". - ph 36219: Crowd of men, women and children, several with bicycles. A hose stretches through centre of picture; at left, 3 ladders reach to the upper storeys. Signs for "Star Café Banquet Room," "Ice Cream and Candies," "[Bowli]ng Alley," - ph 36220: Oblique view of gutted buildings. A fireman kneels and aims the spray from a hose; a bystander[?] wearing a boater hat watches. Sign at right "Coca Cola." - ph 36221: A fireman stands in front of a ladder reaching to the third storey of gutted building; Signs, l-r, for "Bowling, " "Candyland," "Guelph Shoe Shine Parlor," "Guelph Shoe Shine Parlor." - ph 36222: Firemen and bystanders[?]; hoses in foreground; gutted, collapsed buildings. The storefront for Smith's Furniture has now collapsed. - ph 36223: One man stands in front of a scene of devastation, the previous site of Smith's Furniture and its several adjacent storefronts.
