Slides made by Gordon Couling between 1967 and 1982 of stores and views along Wyndham Street, between St. George's Square and Woolwich Street. Also includes copies made by Couling from old photographs of the street. SLIDE 10259: - East side of upper Wyndham Street from St. George's Square, 12 March 1979. Written on slide, "W side upper wyndham". SLIDE 10260: - Buildings along the east side of Upper Wyndham, at Woolwich Street, ca. 1908. On slide, "c1908 / 1890-1900". SLIDES 10261 - 10262: - Looking northwest across St. George's Square, up Wyndham Street, 1975-1978. SLIDES 10263 - 10288: - The Tovel Block, stone building at #90-96, west side of Upper Wyndham Street, once home to the Royal Bank, as it appeared ca. 1908, and between 1967-1974. Includes images of its demolition between January and February 1974. On slides, "Tovell Block" and "Tovell Block I". On slide 10286, "Tovell Block II"; on slide 10273 and 10281, "Royal Bank". Also includes views of Bank of Montreal, and buildings along upper Wyndham Street such as Loblaws, Glynn Jewellers, The Gift Shop, and a Beauty Salon. Smith & Sons Jewellers, Alb Brown, Laura Secord chocolates, Loblaws grocery store, Monique, Pant-i-monium, Waterloo Trust & Savings, and Stubbs & Rodger Furniture. Slide 10298 is the right side of the building with store front for Zack's women's fashions, Evangeline lingerie, and Marhsall's Drug Store; slide 10299 is the left side of the facade with storefronts of A.W. Smith & Sons Jewellers, Alb Brown, and Laura Secord chocolates. SLIDE 10300: - Guelph Post Office on the west side of Upper Wyndham Street, as it appeared 06 August 1973. Carved on building, "Dominion Public Building". Written on slide, "Guelph Post Office 1935"; on card accompanying slide, "New Post Office". SLIDE 10308: - Odeon Theatre/Cinema on the west side of Wyndham Street, [1955]. Slide is undated but car is 1950s era, and the featured movie "Out of the Clouds" with Anthony Steel and David Knight was released in 1955. Written on card accompanying slide, "Odeon Theatre". SLIDE 10309: - Streetscape of stores on the west side of upper Wyndham Street, just south of the Odeon Theatre, 06 August 1973.
