Ontario Reformatory grounds, buildings, and bridge, Concession 2 Division C, Guelph Twp., ca. 1920; 1963-1983. Slides made by Gordon Couling of the buildings, bridge, gardens, and landscapes at the Ontario Reformatory, also known as the Ontario Correctional Centre, off of York Road in Guelph Township, east of Guelph, as it appeared ca.1920 and between 1963-1983. These slides include images of S.S.#1 Guelph Township School which is on property that later became part of the Reformatory. On the card accompanying these slides, Couling has written "Reformatory School 1873" and on the slides, "O.R. School 1872". Written on cards accompanying slides, "Ontario Reformatory Bridge"; "Ontario Correctional Insti"; and "REFORMATORY". Written on most slides, "Reformatory" or "O.R." The landcaping, gardens, and stonework were undertaken by inmates of the facility. |
