The Rockwood Academy, documents and research, ca. 1978 - 1985. File 1: Rockwood Academy documents and research, ca. 1978 - 1985. Item 1: A photocopy of "Quick sketch for the Ontario Heritage Foundation" of the Rockwood Academy, 1978, by Josef G. Drenters. On the back is a short history of the owners of the Academy building. Item 2: A photocopy of a drawing of "The Rockwood Academy in 1853 and the early log Academy to the left 1820-1850." Item 3: A photocopy of a letter written by Yosel G. Drenters asking for donations to assist in the restoration of the Rockwood Academy building, December 1982. On the back of the is a note written in pen; "My grandfather John Lamport Carter graduated from Rookwood Academy after completing Elementary school. He was on county council, chairman of Good Roads Committy, Wellington County. Audrey" Item 4: Mailing address for the Academy Requisition Fund donations. Miss Kathleen Richards is listed as the treasurer for the fund, it also gives a little background on her and how her family was involved with the Rockwood Academy. Item 5: An eight page booklet entitled "The Rockwood Academy" written by Josef G. Drenters and published by Ginty Jocius and Associates, February 1983. The booklet contains brief biographies and photos of the first three headmasters of the Rockwood Academy; William Wetherald, Donald McCaig, and Alexander McMillan. Item 6: A letter from the Ontario Heritage Foundation and the Ministry of Citizenship and Culture, letting the recipient know that the Minister of Citizenship and Culture accepts Rockwood Academy on behalf of The Ontario Heritage Foundation; the letter is dated 14 August 1985. The letter then goes on to give a brief history of the Academy. |
