West End Women's Institute, records, 1932-2017. West End W.I. was founded September 1915, as a branch of Wellington South District. Members addresses included Ariss, and Guelph R.R.1, R.R. 5, and R.R.7. According to their final meeting minutes the West End W.I. officially disbanded in June 2017. A commemorative plaque was placed at Marden Library on 01 June 2017 where the West End W.I. held their last meeting. Earlier records for this branch may be found in A1997.52 and A2006.190. This meeting was held in what is presently the Shifflett home. This is the home where the first West End W.I. meeting was held. (then known as the Cowan Home). The meeting was organized by Susan Baldauf (Shifflett) and other members of the Shifflett family. Honoured guests included former West End W.I. members, friends, as well as our FWIO Provincial Director, Glenna Smith; FWIO President, Margaret Byl (shown with our branch-member and District Director, Joan Playle). West End W.I. was presented with a 100th anniversary certificate by Mrs. Byl and each member received an anniversary pin.
