Account book and Wellington County historical atlas, 1896-1909. - Item 1: Hardcover account book that belonged to Andrew Thomson Howes (b. 4 Dec. 1873) of Harriston. Book begins on 1 January, 1896 with the following "I Andrew T. Howes / commenced farming this day with / cash in bank as per bank book / $ ... Have rented Lot 23 Conc 15 Tp. [Township] / of Minto for the sum of $125.00 / per annum for a period of / five years as per lease". Andrew Howes' father Joshua, also of Minto Township, is frequently mentioned in the accounts. The book continues until March of 1909, which is followed by 123 blank lined pages. The final 2 pages of the book are accounts written in pencil and titled "Effie's Money" (this was Andrew T. Howes wife, Effie May Shannon, b. 18 April 1872, whom he married on 4 Feb. 1896). The back cover of the book is missing, though it does not seem that any account pages have been lost.
