Diary of John Russell Harris (born in Teeswater, 16 Dec. 1883), written from 12 January 1895 through 31 December 1898. Written as a young boy to early teens, this diary recounts life in Elora with his parents and younger brother Frank. It makes reference to his grandparents Smart and Harris, to family members, friends, local events, a trip to visit family in Chicago, a trip to the circus, life at school, picnics in the Gorge, local deaths, and more. Photocopy of diary is also in MU 491 (same accession number). |
