57 boxes of newspaper clippings cut from the Mount Forest Confederate, dated between ca. 1903-1987, and filed in envelopes by surname or business name. The Mount Forest Confederate covered news in Mount Forest and surrounding northern Wellington County and southern Grey County. The articles that were clipped relate to births, marriages and deaths, articles about local events, organizations, schools, etc. (arranged alphabetically by name and/or subject); In 2010 a former staff member of the Confederate revealed to Archives staff staff that clipping these items was part of her job at the Confederate office, and that usually an hour would be spent clipping every Wednesday morning. The files were used by Confederate staff and visiting researchers of historical or genealogical material. |
