    A helmet (.01 & .02) and corresponding case (.03) from the 30th Battalion Wellington Rifles dated circa 1866. Rounded crown with shallow ridgid brim at front and rear; finial on top; chin strap. The helmet is made of black leather, felt, velvet and metal.

  2. 1958.12.1.03 - Case, Hat Case, Helmet Hatbox Helmet

    Metal helmet case (.03) from the 30th Battalion Wellington Rifles dated circa 1866. The hinged case is conical-shaped with a flat circular base made of sheet metal and leather. It has a brown metallic finish.

  3. 1998.16.6.03 - Belt, Military Whistle

    Black leather military chest belt (.01) with a silver buckle on the front "Wellington Rifles". Attached to a chain is a lion's head buckle at one end and a silver whistle (.02) with a silver whistle case (.03).

  4. 2016.23.1.02 - Sword Sword, Ceremonial Scabbard, Sword

    Sword (.01) and scabbard (.02) that belonged to 2nd Lieutenant John Hohenadel of the 2nd Company, 30th Wellington Battalion of Rifles (30th Regiment, Wellington Rifles) circa 1895. The blade of the sword is etched with the name of the regiment, a royal cypher, and text "dieu et mon droit". The sword is marked proved at the base of the blade.

    Long sleeve uniform jacket, Captain John Potter, 30th Battalion Wellington Rifles. The jacket is a dark green colour with black lining. There is thick, green piping, in a loop design covering the front of the jacket. Five toggle buttons run the length of the front with twelve hidden hook and eye closures underneath.     Uniform pants, Captain John Potter, 30th Battalion Wellington Rifles. The pants are plain black with a red, ribbed ribbon sewn down the side of each leg. There is a five button fly closure down the front with brown buttons. The inside of the waist is lined with white cotton and silk. There are two front and two back pockets. The back middle has a triangular section sewn into the pants to make them bigger. .01 - Jacket .02 - Pants .03 - Cap

    Uniform cap, Captain John Potter, 30th Battalion Wellington Rifles. The cap is circular, stiff, made of plain black fabric with red piping. The middle section of the cap is wrapped in a black fabric woven with a repeating maple leaf design. The top section of the cap extends out from the middle. There is a short, small, half-crescent shaped brim at the front. The inside is lined with red silk and burlap. .01 - Jacket .02 - Pants .03 - Cap
