    A hand made iron, wood and leather tomahawk. The forged iron blade is shaped like a spear point and incised with lines. In past alterations the head was tightened to the handle with nails. The carved wooden handle is decorated with a spiral strip of leather, studded with brass nails and painted.

    Handquilted and sewn quilt in a honeycomb pattern, circa 1895. Sixteen rows of seventeen hexagons. Assorted fabrics (silks, cotton and wool) in solids, plaids and prints.   5. 1985.5.1.04 - Set, Sugar and Creamer Spooner Toy Toy, Tea Set

    A child's pressed glass tea service set consisting of a sugar bowl (.01) and lid (.02), a creamer (.03) and a spooner (.04), circa 1890-1900. All of the pieces are embossed with nursery rhyme figures and are stamped with a daisy-like pattern on the bottom. The creamer and the spooner have a scalloped edge.

    A set of six puzzles (.03-.014, .015-.026, .028-.039, .041-.052, .054-.065, .067-.078) in a wooden box with a sliding lid (.01 & .02), circa 1900.   7. 1985.5.3.023 - Toy Blocks, Toy

    A wooden box that contains twenty-two blocks in various shapes and colours. The blocks could be arranged to look like the front of a building. There are blocks with designs on them, like a roof or a window, and one or two turned pieces that resemble columns. The box has a recessed groove just under the top edge that originally held the sliding lid for the box, but the lid is missing from the set.

  8. 1985.5.4 - Gown, Christening

    White cotton christening gown has a drawstring neck with a ruffle on the bodice and a drawstring in the waist casing. There are embroidered caps to the sleeves which are short and a V-shaped panel with side panels in the front. The back has single button and drawstring closure. The skirt is gathered to the bodice and has a centre panel with side panels.

  9. 1992.20.1 - Box, Needlework Container, Needlework

    A dark red velvet needlework box dated 1897. It is in the shape of a chest. There are brown leather bands at both ends of the lid and the bottom has been tooled with a floral design. It has a steel handle and clasp, and a red cotton interior with loops on the inside of the lid to hold tools. The bottom is lined with black paper upon which is a sticker which reads in ink: "December 11th, 1897."

  20. 2012.6.1 - Bowl

    A small hand-thrown dark grey ceramic bowl or dish dated to 1882. The bowl has remnants of a brown glaze inside and out. Inscribed on the outside is "Nellie / Mount Forest, Nov. 18th 1882."
