Large straining spoon designed specifically for lifting eggs out of boiling water. Bowl of spoon is oval in shape and made of wire loops that gradually increase in size. Long, hollow metal handle with ring at the end for hanging up. |

The egg lifter belonged to Katherine Agnes Cleghorn (1894-1985), the unmarried daughter of John Oliver Cleghorn (died in 1934) & Euphemia Derby. Katherine lived on Cleghorn Farm in Guelph Township. Katherine's grandfather was James Cleghorn. Katherine graduated from the Guelph General Hospital nursing program in 1931 and lived in Guelph for more than fifty years. She died in 1985, three weeks before her 91st birthday. Her brother was Douglas Cleghorn (1898-1970), who was the husband of the donor. |
