A pair of garters would be worn with a Scout shirt similar to the Rover shirt (2005.7.10). The garter is dated from the 1950's to the mid 1980's. The donor's grandfather, Simeon Holman (d. 2001) was involved in Scouting in Fergus since its beginnings in 1928 when the 1st Fergus Troop was established. He was born and raised in Fergus. Simeon's son, Fred Holman (1928-2003) (and the donor's father) was born and raised in Fergus. Fred was involved in Scouting since the 1940s. He was a leader of the 1st Fergus Cubs, Scouts and Rovers. |
