A handmade, wooden model of stumping machine or stump puller. The model is A-shaped with three legs and four wheels. A chain hangs from the top middle. Set on a painted green base. Handmade by John Gilchrist of Puslinch Township circa 1933. It has a large pulley wheel on the same arm. |

The wooden model of a stumping machine was made by John Gilchrist of Puslinch Township circa 1933. The original stumping machine was owned by William Paddock in 1883. It was then owned by Alexander Wilkinson who operated it for nearly 25 years in Puslinch Township, Waterloo County and Beverley Township (near Cambridge). The size of the original post was 27 feet x 6 inches. |
