Description |
Cradle bedding for the doll cradle (2006.25.5), circa 1955. The bedding consists of two sheets (.01 and .02), a comforter (.03), two pillows (.04 and .05) and pillowcases (.06 and .07) and two mattresses (.08 and .09). The white cotton sheets (.01 and .02) were hemmed by hand at the top, bottom and one side. The other side was hemmed by machine. The cotton print comforter (.03) is in a floral design with pink, blue and green flowers. It has batting in the centre. The comforter was made from one piece of fabric folded at the top and hand sewn together on the sides and the bottom. It is knotted with red wool thread. The two pillows (.04 and .05) and pillowcases (.06 and .07) were made of cotton. One set is larger (.04 and .06) than the other (.05 and .07). The doll's mattresses (.08 and .09) are made of cotton. One is larger (.08) than the other (.09). |
