Description |
One of a set of six gunstock side chairs, windsor style. Circa 1860. The wood is painted black with a stencil on the top slat. The back has four turned spindles. The stencil is floral with red, green and white on the top slat. The seat is a round slab with seat indentation. The legs are turned. Box stretchers, double on front and sides with a single stretcher in the back. Front stretchers are turned. |

Possibly made in Waterloo or Wellington County. The donor's letter to the museum: "Mrs. Powell bought these at a sale in the Waterloo-Wellington area some fifteen years ago [about 1940].
