Description |
Annual Female Singles Competition golf trophy, Fergus Golf Club, 1936 - 1973. The small silver trophy sits atop a two tier wooden base, painted black, with multiple individual, silver, engraved plaques nailed around the outside. The trophy on top is somewhat dented and lopsided, leaning to the left side. It is small and short with a rounded body, wide opening at the top and an ornate handle on either side. Engraved text on the front reads "Tip Top Tailors Trophy, Annual Singles Competition, Fergus Golf Club, Donated by Steele Brothers", with the engraved image of a female golfer in between. The wooden base is rounded with the second/bottom tier being slightly larger than the top tier. There are beveled edge details along the top and bottom of both tiers. There are 36 individual plaques nailed or screwed around each tier. Each plaque is made of silver, in the shape of a shield and engraved with the winning female singles champion of that year. The plaques start on the top tier at 1936 and continue to the bottom tier, ending at 1973 (1971 is missing).
