| Description | Grain cradle or scythe made of hickory or cedar. Scythe-like handle with one handhold close to the ground level. Attached to the handle is a long blade. Parallel to the blade are four long wooden prongs. These prongs are attached to a wooden bar which extends from the handle. Running down from the handle to the prongs are six wooden bars which give added support to the prongs. |

| Provenance | The cradle was owned by William Harrison who was the first settler on Lot 15, Concession 12, West Luther Township. He settled there in 1903. At that time, he put up the barn, the house and started farming. The Harrisons lived there until the death of Mrs. Harrison in January, 1941 and Mr. Harrison in February 1942. The cradle was sold at a sale and later bought from the purchaser by Mr. L. P. Menzies of Fergus (Inspector of Public Schools in North Wellington) for the Museum. He presented it to the Historical Society at the Annual Meeting 1949 in the Town Hall of Rockwood. |
