Provenance |
Pistols belonged to Kinnettles' resident Alexander Harvey who arrived in Fergus in 1838. Found in a cave along the banks of the Grand River behind the former Harvey home, by Hugh Cameron circa 1925. Cameron sold them to Hugh Templin of Fergus and were given to his son, the donor, in 1970. See accession gift binder for news articles. The percussion cap firing system was developed in the early 1800's and led to the development of the revolving pistol and the metallic cartridge. |
