Description |
A pair of nurse's white stockings (.01 & .02), before 1932. They are royal blue around the top and have the initials "HMM" darned into both the toes, with (.02) having the larger hole in the toe. Worn with the stockings are the following pieces: a blue and white striped cotton nurse's uniform (1977.114.1), a white cotton nurse's cap (1977.114.2), two white cotton cuffs (1977.114.3.01 & .02), a white cotton collar (1977.114.4) and a white cotton apron (1977.114.5.01 & .02). .01 & .02 STOCKINGS |

The stockings are part of a nurse's uniform (1977.114.1 to 1977.114.5.02) worn by Hilda Madeline Mattaini (1914-1932), daughter of Charles and Marie Mattaini. Hilda contracted diphtheria and died while still in training in London. |
