| Provenance | The donor's uncle, Frank DeLaurentis bought the Cabbage Patch Kid, "Dennis Roman" (2010.14.2.07) for the donor in 1983 for Christmas. She didn't like the given name "Dennis" so kept the spelling but chose to pronounce it the French way: "Den-ee". With the doll is the adoption certificate signed by the donor and her uncle on June 8, 1984. Cabbage Patch Kids originally started as dolls called "Little People" created by Xavier Roberts in 1978. The dolls attracted attention by the toy manufacturer Coleco, who began mass production in 1982. The dolls were produced with Coleco from 1982-1989.
