Description |
A shovel or spade aka entrenching tool with a curved iron blade that tapers to a point. It has a short wooden shaft with a "T" hand grip at end. The top edges of the blade, on either side of the shaft, are bent forward 90 degrees. Three rivets and pressure fit wooden wedges attach the blade to the shaft. The "T" hand grip is attached via mortise and tenon joint and reinforced at the rear with a nail. Front of shovel blade is stamped with a broad arrow indicating that it was a WWI British military shovel. |
