Description |
The Hull Homestead and Hull's Dam in Erin, by Ruth Hutchinson, n.d. A framed watercolor painting of the Hull Homestead and Hull's Dam in Erin, Ontario by amateur artist Ruth Hutchinson (need Hull), n.d. The watercolor depicts the homestead from across the dam. The dam is in the foreground with trees reflected in the water; the tops of the house and barn are visible from across the water. The Hull family homestead was located in Erin Township on Concession 8, Lot 5. Hull's Dam has historical significance, since Erin's second sawmill was built there in 1845, then a millrace in 1849 to divert water through the downtown area, to power a gristmill on the opposite side of Main Street.
