Handmade shelf valance consisting of a cardboard backing covered with fabric and beadwork. Three decorative scallops; the central scallop being the largest. Each scallop is embroidered with floral crewel work set against a solid beaded background of clear glass beads. Wide band of burgundy velvet across the top. |

Made by Harold Jennings' mother, in Palmerston, who kept a general store. Census records indicate that this would be Sophia A. Jennings (b. 10 Sep 1862) who was married to Palmerston merchant, Robert N. Jennings (b. 05 Jan 1862). |
