James Earnest Crane (1895-1970) was born in West Luther Township on the border of East Luther and grew up on a farm in East Luther. He served with the Machine Gun Corps as a gunner in France. He was badly gassed August 28, 1918 at Arras and was eventually sent home because of it, after recovering in several hospitals in France and England. After the war, he married and lived the rest of his life in Mt Forest, working on the CPR lines between Harriston and Mt. Forest. He served as President of the Mt. Forest Legion. |
