Description |
A beaded reticule or purse, rectangular in shape, with a beaded fringe, drawstring closure and two beaded carrying straps. The bag has a floral design consisting of red and pink flowers with green leaves intertwined among golden columns. The bag is gathered at the top with green string and a covered wooden knob. The bag is lined with striped silk taffeta and has an inner pocket with ruffles. |

The purse was used by Lady Eleanor (Johnston) Aird who died in 1954 at the age of 97. It was used by Eleanor when she was a young woman circa 1870. She was married to John Aird, the president of the Canadian Bank of Commerce, now Canadian Imperial Bank. |
