Provenance |
The cup (2006.25.21) was used by the donor's family, the Clarks and the Munches, circa 1930 to 1950. The cup was at the donor's grandparents', Harriet Augusta (Atkinson) Munch (1884-1968) and Harry Munch, farm on Lot 30, front of Concession 9 in the Badenoch area of Puslinch Township. Together they had one daughter, the donor's mother, Mildred Mary Munch (1914- 2002). Harry Munch died in 1929 when Mildred was fourteen years old. After his death, Harriet and her daughter continued to work on the farm and hired a neighbour, Benjamin Clark (1906-1992), who eventually married Mildred in 1947. The three of them ran the farm until 1952 when Harriet sold it. The cup was used to take out into the fields. Together, Benjamin and Mildred Clark had two children: the donor (born in 1947) and John Clark (born in 1952). In 1952, when the donor was 4 years old, the Clarks moved into Morriston, Puslinch Township and remained there. |
