Brass star-shaped medal called the 1914 Star. Medal has dates "1914-1915", surmounted with a crown. A laurel wreath and crossed swords on the star with letter "V" in letter "G" on lower star point. Ribbon is red, pink, white and blue striped grosgrain. Medal inscribed on back "N. Sister H. Brydon, Can. A.M.C.". .01 MEDAL .02 RIBBON |

Awarded to Harriet Brydon of Eramosa Twp. who served in Europe as nursing sisters during the First World War. Awarded to personnel who served in a theatre of war prior to December 31, 1915. See p.32 "Orders, Decorations and Medals to Canadians". Nursing Sister Harriet Brydon's service file B122-SO44 shows that Harriet was in Europe by May 1915 and therefore eligible for this service medal. Her younger sister, N.S. Helen Luttrell Brydon, did not reach England until 1916. |
