Ceramic commemorative plate: off-white with red glaze and gold painted decorative details. Circular brown transfer print photograph of George Beatty in centre of plate. Printed at bottom of photo "George Beatty of Beatty Bros. Founded 1874". Stamped in green on the back is the Royal Doulton maker's mark with the lion on a crown and "Royal Doulton" above a mark with three circles interlocking. Next to the mark is the number "4". This dates the piece to 1934. |

The service plate (one of a set of twelve) belonged to Anne Morrison (great-niece of George Beatty, founder of Beatty Bros. of Fergus). The service set was divided amongst the family and shipped to all the cousins related to George. |
