Description |
Metal composing stick, used to set up hand type to be placed in a form ready to print. Long flat piece of metal with narrow back. A piece of metal at one end acts as a border for the type. The right-hand border is a metal piece attached to a sliding metal band. |

Used in the office of Harriston Review, owned by Joe Akkerhuis (b. 1918 - d.1989), donor's husband. They bought the company in 1958 and at some point changed the name to Harriston Review Printing and Publishing. In 1992, the donor and family sold the company. The donor called this a "compositing stick". |
