Description |
Hand held tool consisting of a rectangular length of iron which has short, dull, serrated teeth on both sides. The metal comb portion is painted black and set at a right angle to the handle. Short, turned wooden handle is centred on the comb and stained red. |

Used by the late Alfred Stevens family of the 12th Concession, Peel Twp. for combing out animal hair; winter hair, matted hair and burrs. They farmed Lot 8E Concession 12, near Goldstone. Alfred was born in England in 1855 and emigrated in 1883. He raised cattle and hogs. He married Katy Udy in England. They had six children, one of whom, Norman, was the donor's husband. |
