Description |
Two steel stirrups designed with a bent spring that would release the rider's foot if thrown by the horse to prevent being dragged. Each stirrup has a serrated foot-rest and an arched framework with a loop at the top to attach to a saddle strap. |

Provenance |
Stirrups belonged to Kinnettles' resident, Alexander Harvey, who arrived in Fergus in 1838. Found in a cave along the banks of the Grand River behind the former Harvey home, by Hugh Cameron circa 1925. Cameron sold them to Hugh Templin of Fergus; they were later given to his son, the donor, in 1970. See accession gift binder for news articles. |
