The ribbons are from the Griffin Family of Erin Township. They lived on the 5th Line, Lot 11, Concession 6 in Erin Township. Smith Griffin Sr. (1870-1969), son, Harold (1895-1981) and Smith R. Griffin (1924-1987) entered and exhibited at many Fall Fairs including the First Royal Winter Fair in Toronto in 1922. In 1915, the Griffin Shorthorn Herd was established and in 1937, the Griffins received a government award for growing certified seed grain. They also had a prize flock of Suffolk Sheep. Smith R. Griffin (1924-1987) was the donor's nephew. |
