A dark green polycotton beret with black trim and black nylon lining dated circa 1970-1980. The beret has a green and yellow "Scouts Canada" insignia on the front. Written in ink on the lining is "R. Hazell". |

The beret was worn with a Scout or a Rover uniform in the 1970's and the 1980's. It was given to the donor for his collection. The donor's grandfather, Simeon Holman (d. 2001) was involved in Scouting in Fergus since its beginnings in 1928 when the 1st Fergus Troop was established. He was born and raised in Fergus. Simeon's son, Fred Holman (1928-2003) (and the donor's father) was born and raised in Fergus. Fred was involved in Scouting since the 1940s. He was a leader of the 1st Fergus Cubs, Scouts and Rovers. |
