Provenance |
Gathered by Susan Harrop, a nurse who retired just prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. She went back to work at a COVID test centre in Kitchener, the drive-through clinic at the old bus terminal on Charles Street. In April 2021, about 500 people per day were swabbed at that site, but the numbers in March 2021 were even higher. Cobas PCR Media Uni Swab Sample Packet (.6 and .7) was eventually used on children. 1.Nasal Pharyngeal (NP) 2.Buccal Nasal (BN) BN a.This was offered for children under 12 years old. b.It was not as invasive, but swab was taken at four sites: inside both cheeks and inside both nostrils. c.It was not as reliable. If your children had symptoms and this result was negative but continues to have symptoms then the NP test was recommended. Procedure/surgical masks -We do not use simple procedure masks of past (circa August 2021) -Level 2 were better for people with asthma -We are mostly wearing goggles now (circa August 2021) |
