Description |
A brass military cap badge for the Canadian army, 1916-1918. The stamped badge has a circle, a crown and a banner superimposed upon a maple leaf wreath upon a single maple leaf. On the circle, in raised letters, is " 153 Wellington/ Overseas." On the banner, in raised letters, is "Virtutis Fortuna Comes." On the maple leaf, below the circle and maple leaf wreath, in raised letters, is "Canada." The badge has a brass clasp that is soldered on. |

The donor, Miss Lulu Calvert of Guelph, belonged to the Volunteer Aid Detachment and was stationed in Britain during World War I. The buttons and badges in this collection are from that period. 153rd Wellington Regiment. Believed to been mobolized in 1916. See military history research - Archives. |
