Portrait of a woman in full dress, standing with hands resting on a chair. She is identified in album as, "Mother / Jean Walker, wife of Peter Wright of Mount Forest. Printed on back of photo, "J. N. VanNORMAN & Co., / (Late of Hamilton,) / Photographers, / FERGUS, Ontario / Gallery formerly occupied by Mr. Stewart." The Ontario Photographers List (1851-1900) does not list Mr. VanNorman in Fergus, but does show him in Hamilton until 1886 (and later returning to Hamilton in 1898). From the information on the back of this photograph, when he indicates that he has just left Hamilton, it was likely taken in 1886 or 1887. From a burgundy leather photograph album with gilded border on covers containing 32 photographs of relatives and friends of Arthur Walker Wright family of Mount Forest; photographs are catalogued as ph 1060 to ph 1091; for information on specific photographs enter individual ph number in "other number" field |
