Information left by staff, visiting researchers and volunteers relating to the McIntosh family. Includes information about the family of Alexander McIntosh (1780-1863) and his wife Agnes McInnes (ca. 1790-1878). They were from Argyleshire, Scotland. Before coming to Canada, Alexander worked for Robert Downey, an former East India Company dealer, who was also a director of the Canada Company. Through this connection, the McIntosh family came to Canada in 1831 and settled in the Paisley Block, Guelph Township. |
