Township of Wellington North, Transition Board records, 1997-1998. Records relating to a board of representatives from the municipalities of Arthur Township, Arthur village, the town of Mount Forest, and West Luther Township, in preparation for their amalgamation to form one unified township, effective on the first of January 1999. This new township came to be called the "Township of Wellington North". As it had yet to be named at the time that the Transition Board was formed, minutes and other records listed below make reference to it as the "Transition Board for the Township of Mount Forest/Arthur/WestLuther/Arthur." The function of the Transition Board appears to have been to address issues of merging services and other aspects of government in order to enable a smooth transition on the first of January 1999. Board members included Bruce Barton (Mayor of Mount Forest), Greg Boggs (Councilor of Arthur Village), Richard Gilder (Councilor of West Luther Township), Dorothy Jackson (Deputy-Reeve of Arthur Township), Murray Langdon (reeve of West Luther Township), Harry Quartel (Reeve of Mount Forest), vice-chairman Don Ross (Reeve of Arthur Township), and chairman Clive Williams (Reeve of Arthur Village). Minutes provide lists of alternate board members as well as others who attented the meetings, such as other officials from the municipalities and consultants.
