Crossman family file, 2016- Information related to this family left since 2016 by visiting researchers, staff, and volunteers. Edwin Addison Currie Crossman (ca. 1846-1902) was born in Newfoundland, and later married Celia Bearns. By the 1860s he was working as a carriage builder and carriage painter in Elora, Ontario. Their son, Edwin Addison Crossman (1870-1910), was born in Elora on 31 March 1870. By 1881 the Crossman family had moved to St. Thomas in Elgin County. Edwin Jr. married A. Cecila Ernst in 1889, at which time his marriage registration listed him as an artist living in Toronto. Edwin Sr. died in York County in 1902 at an Asylum for the Insane. His son, Edwin Jr. passed away in Toronto on 03 Sep. 1910. The latter's death registration described him as an artist who died as a result of insanity and paralysis. |
