[Stacks] - ph 42042: Postcard of the 91st Regiment Canadian Highlanders band performing at Rockwood in April 1908; includes four bag pipers and two drummers on a rudimentary stage, with spectators surrounding them; identified on back as "Kilties[?] of the 91 Hamilton / at Rockwood April show / 1908"; after the First World War, the name of this regiment, based out of Hamilton, Ontario, was changed to the Argyll and Southern Highlanders of Canada, and later to Argyll and Southern Highlanders of Canada (Princess Louise's). - ph 42043: Postcard showing aerial view of Rockwood houses and neighbourhoods, ca. 1910; stamped on both sides in ink, "Rockwood Views"; written on back in pencil, "A general view of Rockwood Village though about 1/3 of its buildings are not in sight...some of the farm buildings are 2 or more miles distant. river runs through the center from right to left. G.T.R. [Grand Trunk Railway] Station at upper end." - ph 42044: Postcard of the Grand Trunk Railway bridge under repair, ca. 1910; stamped on reverse, "Rockwood Views [by] T.J. The face I was not aware of till developing the plate in came in view. rock about 60ft high". In the later half of the 20th-century this area became part of the Grand River Conservation Authority's Rockwood Conservation Area. - ph 42046: Postcard of large cliff on the north bank of Eramosa River ponded water below the Harris Mill dam, ca. 1910; stamped on reverse "Rockwood Views [by] T. J. McCarter"; written in pencil, "Pinnacle Rock / Hight 70 ft". In the later half of the 20th-century this area became part of the Grand River Conservation Authority's Rockwood Conservation Area. - ph 42047: Postcard of little girl standing in the river at Eden Mills, ca. 1910; stone wall and fence visible on shore at left; stamped on back [possibly by T. J. McCarter], "Rockwood"; written on back, "A View at Eden Mills Ont". - ph 42048: Photograph of Millicent Milroy with Iggy[?] Sigsworth and collie dog in Rockwood, ca. 1935; had been glued to a photo album at some point previous to donation, leaving dark paper from the album adhered to the reverse, partially obscuring transcription; visible on reverse is "M. Milroy [..?..] Sigsworth / in Rockwood". - ph 42049: Postcard of unidentified men in a parlour, both with sheet music, one singing and one playing the piano, ca. 1915; unused. |
