Willi (Bill) Geiger, and his wife Leonore (Lore), immigrated from Karlsruhe-Durlach, Germany, to Canada in 1954. They went first to Simcoe, Ontario, before coming to Fergus where Bill worked for James Howard and Son, monument dealers, and eventually purchased the business. For many years he was active with the Fergus Highland Games, Fergus Chamber of Commerce, and was a charter member of Fergus-Elora Rotary Club. He was a co-owner of the Fergus Market. In 1990, letterhead was titled G & G Designs / Bill & Lore Geiger / Monuments - Markers - Lettering. Bill Geiger died in 1991 and his wife Lore in 1993. Mauthe, Telephone City Memorials, Simcoe, where he first settled, on arrival in Canada; insurance claim for "broken stuff", Simcoe, 9 Sept. 1954; includes letter from James Howard, 1956, letters of welcome to Mr. and Mrs. Geiger "on behalf of the Liberal Party as a fellow citizen" when they took out Canadian citizenship, 1959; includes correspondence (some in German) to 1990. - file 3: Clippings, 1965-1994.
