Two small brass plaques nailed to the base read "Won by Doreen Howatt, The Canadian National Exhibition, 1953, Birks, Sterling" and "Replica of the J. Allan Ross Gold Trophy for the one mile amateur swimming championship of Canada for women, 1953, Birks, Sterling".
