1967.5.1 - Bottle, Water Canteen
A circular metal canteen or water bottle with a brown leather cover. The top metal mouthpiece is not covered in leather. Cast on the mouthpiece is " D. Moore Co. / Hamilton". There is no stopper in the mouthpiece. The leather casing is very dry and brittle. There are small leather loops at 2 and 6 o'clock. A torn leather strap runs through the loops (perhaps originally a carrying strap).

1967.5.3.02 - Sword Strap, Military
A silver metal sword (.01) and strap (.02) dated circa 1866. With the sword is a leather scabbard (1967.5.3.03) stored in a separate location. The sword has a metal hand guard that curves to cover the handle. The blade is slightly curved and is engraved with a design. There is an inscription on the blade which states "Rifle Volunteers." 1967.5.3.03 - Scabbard, Sword Container, Armament
A black leather scabbard for the sword (1967.5.3.01) dated circa 1866. With the sword is a leather strap (1967.5.3.02). They are stored together in a separate location. The scabbard (.03) has a pouch at the top to cover the handle and the guard. It has a drawstring closing. There is a flap to cover the closing and the top of the sword.

1967.5.4.02 - Legging Gaiter Gaitor
A pair of brown leather gaiters or leggings (.01 & .02), dated circa 1866. The gaitors extend from the ankle to the bottom of the knee. The bottom front is cut in a curve to fit over the boot of the wearer. Flat, metal bar fastener on side. Adjustable leather strap and buckle attaches under the instep.

1967.5.5 - Belt, Ammunition Belt, Accessory Pouch, Ammunition Whistle
A black leather ammunition belt or sash with a metal-lined pouch attached. There is a horn-shaped crest on the flap of the pouch. Attached to the sash are two decorative chains that attach to a removeable whistle and it's case, and connect to a decorative medallion with a lion's head. The middle of the sash has a silver metal crest attached that says "Canada Rifles".
