Provenance |
The woollen blanket belonged to the donor's grandfather, Leonard Awrey, who farmed at Concession 2, Lot 28 in Erin Township, near Mimosa. Mr. & Mrs. Awrey first lived in Eramosa where the donor's father, Ernest, was born. They moved to the farm in 1904-1905. According to the donor, the wool was recycled from another use and taken by Mr. Awrey to the Harris Woollen Mill in Rockwood circa 1905. Here it was made into a blanket. The old material must have been bleached as well. |
