Description |
The "Brotherly Walk" lapel pin (.01) enamelled in red, grey and white. The round pin consists of a red border with "1976-1996" (in gold lettering on the top) and "Brotherly Walk" (in gold lettering on the bottom). Inside the circle is enamelled white with a gold maple leaf on the top (centre), a crossed hatchet and calumet (enamelled in grey with a gold border) below, and a gold image of Wellington County Museum and Archives on the bottom (centre). The pin is made of iron, enamelled and platted gold. It has a standard butterfly clutch (.02). |

The pin commemorates the "Brotherly Walk" held on Father's Day on June 16, 1996 at Wellington County Museum and Archives. The public were encouraged to walked the new trail running between Fergus and Elora which opened in 1996. Afterward they were encouraged to attend the reburial ceremony of the hatchet and the calumet that symbolized the burial of the enmity between Fergus and Elora. This event commemorated the original celebration held on June 18, 1967. |
