Description |
White and yellow cotton Signature Quilt quilted in a floral pattern dated circa 1960. The quilt has a white cotton background with a narrow yellow stitched border. It has twelve yellow appliqued flowers, twenty petals per flower, each containing an embroidered name. In total there are 240 names. The embroidery is in many colors. |

The quilt was made circa 1960 by the Ballinafad Women's Institute (Erin Twp.) as a fundraiser. Some of the surnames listed many times are: Kirkwood (16); Sinclair (13); Snow (20); McEnery (25); Shortill (14); Swindlehurst (5); and McLean (12). The quilt was given to the donor (given surname "Kirkwood") by her grandmother, Mrs. Elizabeth Kirkwood of Erin. |
