Description |
A child's kilt set consisting of a jacket (.01), a kilt (.02) a sporran (.03), a cap (.04), a scarf (.05), a brooch (.06), and two garter flashes (.07 and .08) dated circa 1900. The jacket (.01) is made of black velvet. The wool kilt (.02), the plaid scarf (.05) and the garter flashes (.07 and .08) are in the MacDonald tartan of the Isles. The tartan is a dark green with purple, blue, black, red and white. The other items worn with the outfit are stored separately. |

The kilt outfit was worn by the donor of Elora in the 1900s. His older brothers, Gordon, Jack, Kenneth and Donald, also wore the kilt outfit. Their parents were Allan MacDonald, a farmer in Pilkington Township, and Lora Elizabeth (Cook). They were married in July 1890. |
