Black wool beret with black leather band around brim, concealing a black cotton lace used to tighten the cap around the wearer's head. There are two eyelets in one side near the top where a cap badge would be attached (no cap badge present). There is a hole in one side of the cap. |

This beret was worn by Trooper William Stanley Louttit (1919-1944) of Belwood (service number A.104606) during the Second World War. He served with the Fort Garry Horse, R.C.A.C. and died on 14 August 1944 at Falaise. He is buried in Bretteville-sur-Laize cemetery in France. He was the son of Stanley and Pearl (McDougall) Louttit of Belwood. |
