Description |
Melodeon stool; round upholstered seat consisting of a wooden base with a brown varnished finish and a black horse hair upholstered top; the seat is mounted on a sturdy threaded metal rod which turns to adjust the seat's height. The base of the stool consists of a central thick, turned, wooden post onto which are screwnailed three decorative cast iron legs. The legs feature an open pattern of scroll shapes, feathers and a bird's head at the top of each leg. |

Used with melodeon 2011.66.1. The melodeon and stool belonged to the donor's grandmother, Catherine E. Bernard (born 1876) and her sister, Edith Bernard (born 1889) of Eramosa Township. Catherine was married to John J. Taylor after 1901. Their daughter, Florence Madeleine Taylor married Ernest Hamilton Benham on June 16, 1928. |
