Description |
A fancy cushion done in very intricate needlepoint and embroidery. The needlepoint is in tones of red, blue, beige, gold and some green. There is a flower in the center of a star in the middle of the pillow. There are small bunches of flowers in between the points of the star. Vines around the edge of the pillow, corded seams. There are pom poms at each corner. On the embroidered side all work is done in black thread on a red background. In the center is a grouping of black flowers and vines in a circular pattern. The corners have the same type of flowers but in a triangular pattern. |

Work was done by the donor's aunt, Mrs. Mary Carmichael (nee MacMurchy) of Hillsburgh, Ontario circa 1895. Her husband, James Carmichael was a tailor in Hillsburg. |
